I guess my suggestion to reinstall it got you thinking to reinstall it. Ta Da!

Or, more realistically, he ignored your post and did not see your
suggestion.

That is a possibility although a number of replies suggested
reinstalling the software. Gnork said he just wanted his computer to
work and not interested in learning how to fix it.
Ideally the software should work out of the box and be able to
fix problems itself. So don't blame the user for shoddy
software design and implementation.

Ideally the user shouldn't have to do
anything to fix it. IT SHOULD WORK
RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX AND IF IT DOESN'T
IT SHOULD BE SELF REPAIRING.

When the comsumer spends a few thousand dollars on a
computer it should work right out of the box. It it
doesn't the OEM/the software mfg./and the retailer
have dropped the ball big time.

It's like buying a car....the car should work
the minute you drive it off the lot. The dealer
can't expect you to replace the engine to get it
to work.

My computer worked the minute I got it and I had no problems at all
for over a year. Same with my car.

When my car has problems it does not fix itself. I fix it as I
learned how to do basic car repair. If the problem exceeds my
expertise I bring it to a mechanic.

When my computer has problems I often fix it myself. When the problem
is over my head I bring it in to a computer specialist for repair.

But I hardly expect it to fix itself when it has a problem. And
eventually everything breaks down.
