I've half a mind that you're just a xenophobic racist idiot who
looks down at anyone who's from a different culture than your
own, but it's possible that you're just an idiot who spouts crap
on a regular basis while having a hardon for bit part players
like Donnie Sadler and Shea Hillenbrand, but I'm no expert......
Google's archives don't seem to be going any farther back than
February 1st, 2007 right this second, but I'm pretty sure that
if/when that gets fixed, you could find more fodder for the above
rant. The John Rocker discussion is the one that stands out in my
memory, but there are others that a google search might well turn
up.
What did Sarge say about Rocker?
I can't find an exact quotation for that (or other things he's
said). Google's newsgroup archive still doesn't seem to be going
past February 1st of this year.
I'd prefer not to risk misattributing someone else's comments on
John Rocker (or other subjects) to Sarge. I do recall noting it
at the time (and other stuff he's said at other times), but
I'd rather not rely on my memory in regards to this matter. Until
google starts working again, I'll keep my mouth shut on the matter
(in fairness to Sarge as much as anyone. I don't want to run the
risk of confusing him with the truly offensive -- like, say,
Curly C's thoughts on the Germans' humane anti-typhus efforts.
I know Sarge rubs some folks the wrong way, and heck, some of
his un-PC remarks even make me wince, but I can tell you
firsthand that the man does not have a racist bone in his body.
He's a good person, IMHO, and I'm proud to be his friend.
I understand that. I have friends who have said things with
which I disagree as well, but I've never thought they were
truly racist or anything. Racially insensitive, perhaps;
ignorant and offensive, possibly. But racist? I'm not
quick to apply that label to anyone.
And I've said plenty of insensitive things in my life. Sometimes
the things have been said for shock/humor value, and sometimes
it's been because I believed them (perhaps only at that time,
perhaps still). I don't claim to deserve to be first in a
stone-casting.
Me neither. I've certainly said my share of insensitive things, and
stuff I wish I could take back. Great post.
