The media in Boston seem flabbergasted that we all don't hate Manny
now.
Whoever asked those questions is despicable slime. Manny should know
who they are and never speak with them. Now that Manny has reported I
wonder if a few people in this NG realize that they greatly
overreacted to the situation.
Oh please...Manny has been defended by the vast majority of fans. From most of us that HAVE been critical I think it has been pretty temperate with a few notable exceptions. It was only an issue at all because of his track record for this sort of thing...then exaggerated by reports of that car show appearance...that was apparently not true. None of this would have been an issue at all, if Manny or his agents had acted professionally and contacted ANYONE other than Julian about his plans. To my mind this isn't a contractual issue so much as one of simple courtesy and manners. I guess that's not covered by the CBA. Why is it alright for players to act disrespectfully, but the first thing raised during contract disputes is that the team has no respect for the player? Is it really out of line to expect that to cut both ways? Never mind respecting the media...or the fans. Does the owner, the manager, the GM not deserve some modicum of courtesy and respect?
