To the Yankee-haters awaiting the demise of the Evil Empire, that will
come when a new ownership takes over. With a franchise presently
valued at over $1 billion, their debt service will be too top-heavy for
them to carry a payroll anywhere close to $200 million.

Until then, it will be business as usual, more of the same.

Yes, I'm a Yankee fan. No, I'm not embarrassed by their payroll--nor
would I expect any RSN partisan to be embarrassed if the Red Sox had
the highest payroll in baseball. .


Good for you. Enjoy. It won't last. I think you are quite right. George will not be around forever. When the next regime takes over it will be quite different. Then again, it hasn't worked that well lately now has it? You must admit, with the current spending, anything less than a championship is failure. The return hasn't been there for a good while considering the price now has it?
