This guy has put the team on his back alot of the time and came
through. The comment about him telling Jetet to "Try and hit in this
lineup" was somewhat wrong because it makes the rest of the team sound
like complete *** but you know it's kind of true. Manny is the only
other guy doing what Ortiz is doing and that's hitting Homeruns and
getting RBI's when they really need it. Hopefully the management goes
out and spends the money on the right players that will put us in the
playoffs next year. We cant rely on these rookies to come in and save
the day, Papelbon like luck doesnt happen a whole lot. They need to get
rid of the guys that were constantly losing games for them or not
producing on offense and bring in some players that are proven.

Well, I'm not thrilled with his comments. He has made more of a big deal of trying to win the MVP the past TWO seasons now than I can ever remember anyone doing. And he left himself completely open to Jeter's "We don't think about personal awards here. We think about winning divisions and World Series" comments. And good for Jeter, because that's what you should be saying, even though we know it's bull***. Everyone wants to win an MVP.

Yeah, but guys with class don;t put that ahead of the team's interests.

Oh come on now...how is it putting that ahead of the team's interests? What is there for the team to win right now? Was what he said stupid? Yes. Even classless? Yes, but that's a matter of opinion, which we're all entitiled to. But ahead of the team's interest. I'd argue that one of the few things left to entertain the fans is to see him continue his quest for the single season, all-time Red Sox homerun crown and, yes, excuse me for saying, his crack at the MVP. He was asked a question...repeatedly I might add...and answered it honestly. The main point of his remark was that he would not get it BTW. The team is going nowhere this year. He knows it...the team knows it...you and I know it. Especially all the vermin like trolls that keep posting here know it as do the New York freaking Yankees. Can we just say congratulations to get them to leave? We all know that won't happen, because there is no class, sportsmanship or dignity among the heathen tribe known as Yankee trolls. Poor sports.

It seems only Ortiz is out here running a campaign for himself two years in a row now.
Hardly a freaking campaign. He keeps being asked and it's clearly not in his nature to be surly or perfectly politically correct. Deal with it.
