I was surprised with the timing of Ozzie's taking Papi out. Unless I'm
mis-remembering it he played the bottom,of whatever inning it was and
then Konerko pinch hit for him to lead off the top of the next. Why not
either take Papi out before that defensive inning or let him hit the
next? Preferably the latter so we could see one more Papi at bat.

And as much as I would have loved to see The Papenator close the game
out, considering the pedigee involved it's hard to argue with who did
finish it off.

If I heard it right Hoffman came into this game with a 10 plus ASG ERA.
Maybe another choice by Garner should have beeb considered?

I was SHOCKED when Hoffman entered in the 9th. Gordon would have been a
better choice....




Both have have been premiere closers *in the past* and both are less so
now, so I don't think it was an obvious decision. I think a lot comes down
to reputation rather than what kind of year they're having.
