Gotta feel bad for Arroyo (at least, as far as you can feel bad for a professional athlete scheduled to make over $10 million in the coming years). The dude took a home town discount to stay in Boston, where he clearly wanted to be. But it was precisely that discount that made him so tradeable.

This move could hurt the Red Sox in the future if they ever ask someone to take a home town discount - and they deserve it.

I liked Arroyo and would prefer he be on the team, with that said here's my take on the "home town discount"... get a no trade clause in your contract or don't give a "home town discount". That's the trade off for taking less money to stay where you want to be.
