The Sox bought as many players as the Yankees did. The problem isn't that
the Yankees bought players. The problem is the players they bought.
I don't care a whole lot about buying or not buying players --- not my
issue. Or about home grown, except that, as a fan. I enjoy watching
players develop though the system (as do many NYY fans).
The RS did buy some guys v. important to the 2004 team. NYY just had a
lot more money. I do think the huge money differential favoring NYY is
a problem for baseballl, even if NYY has not always spent the money
wisely.
