No there isn't. Your posts are disseminated by way of a getleman's
handshake between peers. You have no rights beyond your contract, if
any, with your direct Usenet host. It's a co-operative system. That
means people need to, you know, co-operate.

If you call co-operating yelling at people because they didn't format or
post correctly.

I didn't. I told Don how he could fix his post. If I yelled at anyone,
it was at you, for your "Do what the hell you like, there's no law
against it" infantile moronicism.

I call it a dictatorship,

Yes. Usenet is a dictatorship. It's run by the newsadmins. We have no
say in the technical aspects.

as it's certainly not co-operation.

Usenet works technically by the co-operation of the dictators, and
socially by the co-operation of users. It's a lot like broader society
in that respect. You'll learn about it eventually.

No. I'm fairly ambilvalent about people breaking ettiquette, given that
I can't do anything about it. I'm getting my panties in a bunch over
people like you, who seem to think that because it's not written down,
it doesn't count. I'm sure you'll learn that some rules of civil
engagement are rules even if they aren't written down. Eventually. I
hope, for your sake.

Perhaps, over the years, you've noticed that rarely have I broken any
rule of netiquette. I, however, am defending posters like Don and
others who contribute intelligent conversation, only to have it
destroyed by those who feel the need to correct how they convey their
opinions.

Destroyed? Really? I just suggested he use a sig-sep, which he's since
done.

Very poor attempt at deflection. Must try harder.

What am I deflecting? Keith, enough of this crap. I think someone's
top-posting in alt.sports.soccer right now, you'd better get on that
before USENET crumbles.

The soccer newsgroups were sewers last time I looked. See, I've been
posting to Usenet for 13 years now, and I actually give a crap about
it. It's a fantastic resource, as long as pissants like you and your
everything-goes attitude don't prosper.

Seriously, though. If I pissed in your pool, would you say "Oh, well. I
guess I should have gotten your written pledge that you wouldn't piss in
my pool?" Or would you think it just plain rude?

You wouldn't be invited in my pool in the first place, so I do not have
to worry about that.

Badum-tish. You really showed me.
