People burned Beatles records in the streets, radio stations organized
Beatle boycotts...so they overreacted to a religious slight. Like I
said, they are both overreactions, we are just discussing levels of
overreaction...
Then let the record show that there is a HUGE difference in the two levels.
Yup.
and the example was just a quick, off the top of my head type of thing.
I am sure I could find better if I did research...but I am too lazy.
Well maybe you should try and come up with such an example to support your
point... Because I am thinking of a wide variety of insults lobbed at
Christianity over the past 25 years or so (Piss Christ, Last Temptation,
Sinead O'Connor) and I don't remember anyone calling for buildings to be
burned and people to be killed.
My point was religion makes people do things that are hard to
understand...and react in ways that are seemingly ridiculous.
I do, however, remember an individual writing a book called "The Satanic
Verses" that was deemed an insult to Islam and he was ordered to be killed.
There was that guy in Holland (?) who made a short film about an abused
Muslim woman who was killed. Now we have this.
