what i mean is, it's nearly impossible to say if sox management is being
greedy or not without knowing all of the information that they had about
the parameters of this deal, the overall financial situation of the sox,
etc., plus what was in their hearts and minds when they made the
decision, all of which is really almost impossible for us to know.

maybe they really regret it but there's no way to avoid it. or maybe
they're doing it *just because* they enjoy sticking it to poor people.
who knows?

it's kind of like when people come on here with really strong opinions
about the latest manny situation, when really none of us are a party to
it or know what was actually done or said in the clubhouse one way or the
other. and yet people are absolutely convinced they know what's up.

if you go back and read my original post i explicitly said that i didn't
know enough about this particular situation to have an opinion. i was
just trying to clarify some issues i saw come up in the discussion between
you and dano, which i did read. that's all.

sure. i'm not saying capitalism is all bad. i'm just saying it's not
all good either. markets are a powerful tool, but they have to be
regulated, just like citizen behavior is regulated by laws, or the
invisible hand starts taking a few five-finger discounts and you wind
up with corporate feudalism. i've seen people who seem to believe that
the laws of supply and demand are the only laws we need and i think
they're... not thinking it through.

in a truly free market, i'd just shoot you and take your wallet.
