There remains a pressing need for a closer, and I hope that the Sox
don't think this will be filled by the return of Foulke. However, I do
see them thinking that it could be filled by Hanson or possibly
Papelbon. They need Schilling working his way back into the starting
rotation. The problems with the pen could resolve itself with the
addition of Arroyo, Delcarmen, Foulke and the closer to be named later.
I expect Foulke could struggle with velocity on his return, so I am not
putting a lot of faith in his contributions until perhaps the playoffs.
I hope they bring up one of these young players and let them show what
they have got. Hanson is on the 40-man roster...and is working out in
Florida.
On the other hand, it wouldn't surprise me to see a trade this weekend
with the Sox playing the Twins, possibly for Romero, although I am not
in favor of it.
