You can say that again. ;) The problem is that he is getting shelled
in between moments of promise. When you extrapolate those stats over
six or seven innings you need to add in some outliers. His numbers
won't be that good. What the stats don't show is that a lot of balls
are getting hit deep -- good fortune and defense has helped him
considerably. His ERA is high for a closer. REALLY high for a closer.
Good closers have ERA's that are half that number. I think his ERA is
more likely to go up than down over a larger sample.
