Having said that there are at least two on FB, "Brothers of the briar"
and "Which nice PIPE tobacco are you smoking NOW?" that are close to the
usenet experience in that different subjects are not spread across
different pages and so access is kept simple and threads launch and die
just as they do here.
Not sure if that made sense but if you have FB check 'em out.

I think Bill B is asking how do we make an ASP Website and this usenet
page such that both would be of interest to the users and if possible
on one page. I think the Social media sites (facebook, twitter is
textbased) are the solution (no cost to ASP) and the content could be
as simple as ASP wants it. It's clear most like google and it's
simplicity but I think Bill's idea and Allen's idea are an important
consideration.
