I just happened to think of something regarding this issue: I know G.L. Pease, Cornell & Diehl (who I believe does the tinning for GLP) and McClelland put dates and/or lot codes on their tins (unless you get too far back), I don't know about most of the others. Unfortunately lot/batch or date numbers are not standard for the industry.
If any of this type of information is available, I could be VERY useful to everyone to have a heads up to dangers in their own cellars, or for purchasing "vintage" tins.
I wonder if that would be worth an online database or list?
