Hello all;
I made a pipe last week. I rather like it. I haven't polished the stem
or staimed it yet but everything is sanded to where I want it. The
pipe is a nice size, it seems drilled pretty well. It has a narrower
tobacco chamber which should work well for Virginia flakes. So? So I
left the rim half plateaux and half smooth. I'm looking for comments
or suggestions and especially your feelings on the rim.
A very nice looking pipe. It looks like it'll fit comfortably in the
hand during a smoke, and I love the white stem band. It looks great as
it is so I wouldn't stain it. I do think you ought to smooth out the
rim unless that would expose a flaw in the briar; but that's just me
because I don't happen to like plateau tops. Anyway, good job! :-)

I'm obviously one of the few who DOES like the rim contrast, even
realizing plateau is more difficult to keep "char free". Otherwise,
great effort, congrats & keep 'er going.
