Stain inside the bowl, maybe? Many Peterson's are dip stained. Probably
cheaper to do it this way, but not as good. Maybe the cake doesn't form
as fast on the stain? I don't really know, I'm certainly no expert on
Peterson pipes. I only know that I don't want any. No offense intended. :)

In the Peterson brochures it says they dip stain them. I think you
have to burn the stain off. that might be a good pipe to try the honey
and carbon powder breakin.

I've never had a problem with Petersons but all my recent
ones have been estates. My new ones were before the dip staining
procedure was used. But they are worth the effort for those of
you wanting to invest in a Pete. I like my Stanwells also. Then again
all of my Stanwells have been estates also.
