I've often wondered that myself. Even in the best of economic times,
think of the cost of inventory for even a modest selection of say... 100
pipes!
Add a hundred tins of tobacco which would be a small inventory from
OUR point of view and it gets even worse! That's why I never bemoan
the selection a retailer has, I appreciate the effort. To reply to an
earlier supposition about cigars being easier gifts, they are also a
"cooler" gift in the eyes of most too. (lol)
Right. We should be thankful that we have a handful of online retailers
who are able to provide us with such a tremendous variety in pipes and
tobaccos. Before the internet, I had never even *heard* of some of my
current favorites! ;-)
To visit my B&M, entails $35 parking, and crazy taxes. I find the
"online" shopping experience much more conveinent. The B&M experience
leaves me cold.
I'd much rather deal on-line. My business seems much more
appreciated.
I know what you mean. Certain area shops act like they're offended whenever I walk into their stores. Is it my pink hair, my six-inch platform shoes or my glow-in-the-dark green teeth? I dunno. <wink>
