So here I sit today, having smoked a bowl of Haddo's, and a bowl of Key
Largo, and now I'm on a full bowl of the rope, and I kinda dig this.

But back to the other two first.  When I first smoked a pipe, I bought a
ton of tins of tobacco and opened them all, trying all sorts of differnt
stuff but never dedicating a pipe to anything but the one huge bulldog I
have that was for aromatics.  And maybe that soured my experience a bit..
But the bowl of Haddo's I smoked today (and I smoked it first unlike
the last two times) was much fuller and richer than the previous two.
Didn't taste as much of the casing this time, but more of the tobacco,
and it was really kinda like one of the cigars I enjoy a lot, without
the sweetness of the habano oscuro wrapper.  I've noticed a difference
in the amount of puffing I do now that the pipe has been seasoned a bit.
I don't need to puff quite so much to get the same level of flavor,
which in turn cools the smoke.

I'm still having a bit of trouble with keeping the flake in the Key
Largo lit, so I might just try to rub it out next time.  I like it
though, it's smooth and creamy with just a bit of woodiness.   Did
experience a bit of bite, but I got a bit sloppy at the end there.

So after smoking those two back to back, I started on the rope, which I
trimmed thinly with my xikar cigar cutter, split the medallions in half,
then rubbed them out and put them on some paper to dry out a bit.  This
is nice.  It's very mild for me, but very smooth, creamy, and a touch of
sweetness on a finish I could describe as slightly floral.  It reminds
me very much of an old cigar brand called Hoya XXO.  I can see
dedicating a pipe to this to see how it develops, especially since I
ordered a half-pound. :)

I also enjoy rope tobacco. My first smokes were a bit
overwhelming, but with time they became favorites. Welcome to the
club, you can't go wrong with a good rope/twist !! ;-)
