I don't think tobacco will be completely banned in the US. The tax
revenue is big here and "big tobacco" still lobbys heavily. Also,
suffering the nanny state of current politics, we are still Americans
and are not good at being told what to do when. I don't smoke in cars
with kids because it makes sense not to. In return, I find their
secondhand childishness offensive to all my senses and unhealthy.
There has been quiet talk in my area of lowering state taxes on
tobacco because at a certain level people begin to buy less, and
therefore the tax revenue more per unit but less overall.
If I am wrong, I will open an smoke-easy quickly, and become the Al
Capone of tobacco in no time. I'll try not to get pinched for tax
evasion.
