Another afternoon smoke with an ASP member

This began when M-- emailed me that he lived close by. It took us a
few weeks to get it together to meet by the pier for an afternoon
smoke. From his emails, I expected M--to be rather hesitant and shy,
and in his 20's. But when I met him, he had an open friendly face,
was about my age, and turned out to be quite willing to talk about and
listen to our experiences in life and growth. In my guesses about
what these ASP members are like, I'm scoring 0 for 2. The first thing
he did was give me tins and packets of Early Morning Pipe, MB Vintage
Syrian, and BB Balkan Blend. A generous guy. I was smoking Balkan
Supreme in a ** 1/2 bent Ferndown billiard, and he a VA flake in an
exclusive European brand (I forget the name). It turns out that he has
close to 1000 pipes as well as making pipes and having an incredible
cellar. We enjoyed our smokes, and since I had told him an email that
I liked Ferndowns, he had brought a big one to leave with me and see
if there was anything I wanted to trade for it. I will enjoy meeting
him again, and wish more of you lived close by. I look forward to a
possible visit this coming summer from an ASP member I like a lot who
lives far away, but is considering coming to SF and spending a week
