First of all, it depends on what you mean by "stinger". That term is generally associated with Kaywoodie, and when you screw in the stem, you have no control over where the holes are.
If, on the other hand, you are talking about aluminum tubes in the mouthpiece, that is a different matter.
Perhaps you could provide more info on what you are talking about?
Regardless, I would not throw them away. Someone else may want them if you sell it at a later date.

You know the best thing to do with those stingers? Take them out of the pipes and put them in the dustbin. Seriously. Doesn't matter if the holes are facing down or up, either. Just throw them out. Your pipes will be better for it.
This is not normal. Maybe that goes without saying.
