Hello again Gentlefolk. Yesterday I was smoking a pipe that turned
sour, and I can't under stand why. It is an old GBD Jubille that in
the past had been giving me a B/B+ smoke with a latakia blend. But in
the distant past I had caked the pipe with an aromatic. So I reamed it
down to the wood and soaked the chamber and shaft in EverClear four
days ago. Usually when I do this, the quality of the smoke jumps a
grade or so. So it was time to re-cake the pipe yesterday. The first
bowl went through fine. Then I dried the pipe as much as possible with
pipe cleaners, but the second bowl turned sour. The only difference
between this pipe and others I have re-caked is that I forgot to smear
the chamber with honey before the first cake. Does anyone have
experience with pipes turning sour? Thanks. May your pipes be ever
sweet. Tim near SF
Hmm... deja vu?
