Sherlock Holmes Pipe Ban

Just saw on a local news cast that Sesame Street is offering DVDs of
their early shows with a parental warning. Contains scenes of dietary
misuse, i.e. Cookie Monster, and smoking with a pipe. One of the
characters was holding a pipe impersonating Sherlock Holmes. They had
call ins with comments. Concerning the pipe issue, a caller mentioned
this was an earlier age and pipe smoking was in vogue, and that's the
purpose of parents to explain the situation. The thing that bothered
me was, the pipe was used as a prop,to portray a Holmesian character.
This was enough to have a warning about tobacco??????????? Sesame
Street?????????????
Are they going to ban Holmes movies next, Inspector Maigret, The Twain
Chronicles,Tom,Huck? What the flagrehimen (Funn Dictionary) is this
world coming to??????? I saw a news cast agin w/Clinton getting out of
a golf cart with a cigar in his mouth,post presidency, realizing
cameras were on him he snatched it out of his mouth & hid it behind
his leg.
I'm with the dear Prof. Frenchy in a past P&T article where he states,
keep the pipe in your mouth,even inside buildings unlit and/or empty.
Of all the things to harp on being unbenaficial. What about
substandard doomed to fail educational processes that are used to lure
businesses to 'partner' with schools to offset costs? What about dairy
products known to be channelers of cancer along w/ sodas, chocolate?
We do have a habit of ostrichsizing (Funn Dictionary, burying one's
head in the ground or some other nearer orifice claiming to have no
knowledge of it, to keep recieving a paycheck), situations. Heck of a
legacy and modeling for our youth.
Sorry for the length,sorry for the tirade. In the words of Popeye,
another smoker who will probably have a warning or be banned. "I done
stood all I can stands, and I can't stands no more".
Gotta start injecting and applying rub to the 2 turkeys for tomorrow.
I got too much time on my hands..or I either gotta stop watching the
news.
