King Edward VIII/Duke of Windsor: Pipe smoker

Edward (1894-1972) was known as "David" to his family. He was the
great-grandson of Victoria, the grandson of Edward VII, and the son of
George V. He was extremely popular as Prince of Wales, but his
private life and obvious lack of dedication to his royal duties
worried his parents, particularly his father, with whom he had a
terrible relationship.
George V died in Jan. 1936. Edward was king until Dec. 1936. His
brother, George VI, then became king, reigning until 1952. 1936 was
the only year in British history in which three kings reigned.
Edward was a VERY heavy pipe smoker. He was also passionate about
golf, dogs, and his wife, Mrs. Simpson. He died of throat cancer at
78.
In the 1920s, Alfred Dunhill blended a personal blend to the future
king's specifications. It was a blend of English cavendish and
Virginias and was sold in London until the 1960s.
