Robert-
Thanks for the kind thoughts and words. Our county's largest employer is
WalMart, and they're not hiring right now. In fact the jobs section in the
classifieds has a handfull of jobs, none of which she is qualified for,
things like engineering positions and such. Even McD's isn't hiring right
now, they're full up with kids on summer break. In two months she'll be
ripping along as a sub, and we'll be OK, and next month she and our daughter
are visiting her mom, so I can easily squeeze by on a lot less and not
notice it.
Other than that, the nearest places of employment are at least 50 miles
from our place. Yep, we live in a poor county, but the people are nice, the
air is clean, and we have a lake that I've yet to catch a fish from, not
that I haven't tried, mind you.
Peace,
Philip

Hey Austin. I think Scoop is beyond options at this point. He's taking
some serious medicine for some serious pain issues, and is clearly
disabled. It's not fair that he has to starve as a result, but it's the
way of things. Taxpayers like to pay as little tax as possible. I agree
that turning to your friends for help is a last resort, but he's not
doing that. He wrote that when he was in a lot of pain, and has
apologized. He's trying to sell his stuff to feed his wife and daughter,
and that's what some people have to do to get by. I think this is a very
important issue, and it's been met with embarrassed silence that I
believe is unwarranted. I would help him if I could, but I'm in pretty
much the same situation, minus the family. Won't someone just help take
the stress off his shoulders? He's in enough pain as it is.
Hope you're well, Austin, and no offense intended,
Ian

I understand exactly where he's coming from as I also have pain issues
although not to the same degree and don't make much money either to
help out. I have been one step from being on the street more than once
myself and it isn't a pleasant feeling but fortunately I was able to
work but that isn't the case any longer. All I can offer is sympathy,
and the possible suggestion if his wife is willing, perhaps she can
take on another job temporarily. Not knowing where he lives I've
included a link for Craigs List in Chicago but they can change the
location to a city near them once on. It's free, and perhaps they can
find something there to help or a job she can do at home until things
get better. Another suggestion if I may, I use to live on $10 a week
and sometimes less for food for quite a few years and ate alot of
potatoes and veggies.

Hope things
get better,
