Inflammatory, ignorant, insulting crap like that comment isn't going to help anyone's cause, least of all your own.

Sorry that you find historical fact so distasteful.
Historical fact?! I've been living in Canada for most of the past eight years. How, precisely, has my freedom been curtailed? Nobody has taken my passport. Nobody has forced me to do anything against my wishes. Nobody has encroached upon my liberty in any way. The only indisputable fact on display here is that you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

Blindness to a statist mentality is no defense. Thank you for making my point.

No, thank YOU for making mine. If you think - my use of the word "think" here is an act of enormous charity, by the way - that people are somehow less free in Canada simply because you don't agree with the policies of Canada's government, then you are simply monumentally arrogant and quite remarkably stupid. Canada is a democracy, and her citizens (and I am not myself, by the way, a Canadian citizen, or even a permanent resident, though I've been living there legally and will return there in the fairly near future) have voted for the government - and the *style* of government - that suits them. When they dislike the direction the country's heading in, they vote the incumbent out and vote in a new PM. Just like in any other democracy. And they are free to vote for whomever they like. Once again, how exactly does that make Canadians anything less than "free"?
