Reflecting on what you said, I have offended at least two people on
ASP, and that is two too many. I believe that the right thing for me
to do is to refrain from posting here on ASP, cut my losses and just
shut my trap. ASP would be the better for it.
I am not offended so much as perplexed by your 'logic.' Rather than blaming all of us for your loss, which I agree is not inconsiderable, why don't you reveal the name of the alleged miscreant? As for your romantic notions of pipe smokers in general and ASP posters in particular, I don't feel that topic worthy of further discussion. Indeed, reading this newsgroup for a few months should have permanently erased all such ideas. I do wonder, however, how and why you think that "ASP would be the better for it" if you no longer participated, or was that merely said in pique?
