Thanx for asking re: "da Bear", Hardcrackers. Can't really answer
properly. He came downstairs briefly to ask Todd (manning the checkout)
something, we had maybe a pleasant 30second conversation, then back
upstairs he went to continue "appraising" new estate pipes that
apparently came in recently. Didn't see Tony at all, and as mentioned,
Sykes came in just before we were ready to leave...we had same brief
conversation, then he off to work upstairs.
Again, for those who haven't actually visited smokingpipes.com...try to
do so. The cigar humidor has been expanded just a bit, but it's still a
PIPE & TOBACCO store.

Greetings all! Got home about 3hrs ago, finally ready to greet my
friends/enemies here. Sat 8/26 off to Williamstown, WVa for the Mrs.
This being a tour of the Fenton Art Glass factory there...the following
Monday. Sun. 2/27 we pretty much hung around Marietta, OH, visited (5
yrs since there) the shops open. Fenton tour was great, course Nan
spent some money there!. Headed South around noon the 28th and crashed
at Statesville, NC, of course after I did buy a couple bundles of JR
2nds. We had called the Tarlers (Cornell&Diehl) ahead and had a
wonderful visit, tour of the plant, even a short visit with SamLearned,
who temporarily makes pipes in their "attic". I picked up my order of
"10Russians, 6 English samplers and managed to score 2lbs of Lane
CrownAchievement for a great price. Headed out around noon and got to
my steps in Shallotte, NC, about a 6hr trip. Craig gave us a great
route to eliminate the Charlotte by-pass.
We decided to cut visit short with the family, watching for "Ernesto"
to hit FL.....so instead of the planned Thurs visit, spent a couple hrs
with Sykes, Bear & Todd at LowCountry Tobbaco/Cigar, the B&M name for
smokingpipes/com. Picked up my ordered lb of Abingdon, did not find a
hoped for decent estate Viprati. We left the family mid-Thursday
morning and easily beat the storm, making it to just past
Charlotteville,Va. (Soon thereafter, Wilimington,NC got totally
hammered with rain).Then back on 81 to Binghamton,NY, 2 days with Nan's
mom (90 & still kickin' a**). Sun/today...to Utica, picked up dog and
headed home.
All in all, nice vacation. Just glad we decided to head back ahead of
the storm, as if we'd a followed it...lotsa our roads were flooded,
esp. State Rd. 40 from Wilmington to I-95
Real tired now, so gonna grab a couple beers...see ya'll hopefully for
the morning smoke.

Ed, sounds like you had a whale of a good time meeting and greeting
some awfully good folks and got some good tobacco out of the trip too.
I gotta ask you though, how's Da' Bear, Mouse and the guys doing? I'm
hopeing Bear's work is fulfilling and he and Da Mouse are catching up
on lost time and enjoying life, scuba diving, motorcycling, visiting
with family and, etc., when he's not working.
