I have a Dell Demension 8200, Pentium IV computer with DSL connection,
and usually my computer runs pretty fast. I have a 40G hard drive with
13G being used so there should be more than enough memory. However,
I've recently noticed in the past few days that my computer takes an
abnormally long time to boot up programs,
I'm sure that if you went to the Windows "knowledge base" you'd find
a lot of information, but it's probably not worth the trouble.
Like many others, I've found that reformatting (i.e. completely
wiping) the HD and reinstalling XP from scratch clears up a ALL of
problems (unless of course, they're hardware related). I do it every
12 to 16 months. Don't forget to back up your data files to a CD or
two, though.
