dating a pete

Hi all,
I recently was given a peterson standard system pipe from the
father in law.This was one of his own uncles.Some markings on the bowl
itself"made in the republic of ireland and underneath that 312(shape)
On the opposite side its has peterson standard system and on the
silver part it has K&P Petersons. Any rough ideas as to when this was
made?

If the cap were sterling silver it might have markings which could be accurately dated, but if it's made of nickel, which is much more common, there's no way to precisely say how old the pipe may be. ...
