PPS: This is the post that got me banned from Pipes.org for
"commercial," despite their many links to pipes articles in other
general commercial media. Furthermore, other members are forbidden to
mention my article. Hilarious!

You dont think possibly this part of your article might not have had
something to do with your problems at pipes.org???

Ha, no. Note the "update." I put that in the article AFTER I discovered
the nature of Pipes.org and decided to warn my readers about its
quirks. The previous Intro post I put to this group is the one that got
me banned! : ) I had sent it to their group, too, because I'd learned
a lot from them. Their moderator Mel banned it without comment. My
first post. Disappeared. Totally rude and shocking. I thought there was
a bug in the system and emailed him. He said I could post an Intro
without mentioning my website. So even though that's an unfair request
I removed the link, but I still kept the gist of the post, saying I
learned about them thru my media work and that I wrote an article
(without naming names). And THAT's what got me banned. I really didn't
know what he was after or why. Truly nutty. If they had a disclaimer as
to their crankiness then I wouldn't've been surprised. As it was I was
baffled til I read the other forums. I wouldn't want my readers to be
blindsided so I added that update.

"http://forum.pipes.org (UPDATE: This forum is a good resource, but
it's not a forum in the usual sense. It's run by a cranky guy,
according to narrow and random druthers. The other forums are welcoming
and offer a full view of the pipe world. For instance, I'm told it's
prohibited to mention this OYB article there, while other media is
allowed. I've since learned that hundreds of "pipers" have been
insulted, banned and censored there, giving health to the previously
listed forums.)[ ]

Seems the cranky guy might have taken a little offense

I hope Mel wouldn't take offense. I think my description will give
people an accurate expectation of that forum. If it's at all misleading
I'll happily change it. I really think they should put up their own
caution about posting. It's not a regular forum. That's fine. It has
its good points. They just should be up front about the reality of it.

at your commentary about his site where you were just a guest of and I guess he
decided not to let you into his place.

They don't treat posters like guests much less members. And I wasn't a
guest and it wasn't his place. I was technically a member with equal
rights. It's instead run like a .com, a misleading one no less. Could
be easily fixed with a disclaimer on their homepage (they should change
the domain, too). I've been a forums member and moderator myself for 10
years. Never saw anything like it.

Welcome to ASP ... I'm sure you will fit in just fine depending on what
group your going to fall into. Smoke what you enjoy and enjoy what you
smoke.
