Great news, glad to hear it!

Well, yesterday was the Big Day. It started with an ultrasound of my
bladder, then the doctor came in.

"What are you expecting to have happen today?" he asked.

"A prostate biopsy," I replied.

"Well, we don't do biopsies based on the result of a single lab test." He
then had me lie down on the table and he thumped and poked and prodded.
Then he had me stand up and bend over for another round of hide the
finger.

"Well, your ultrasound is normal, and your prostate isn't swollen anymore.
So what could have caused the elevated PSA levels? Any number of things.
It could have been something acute, such as an infection, which is gone
now I might even have been a mistake."

"So what cause the problem and pain peeing?" I asked?

"You might have had a small kidney stone in the mouth of the bladder. If
so, you passed it."

"So where do we go from here?"

"I'd suggest another PSA level check in 6 weeks. At the same time, as long
as we're drawing blood, and given your medical history, we'll check your
blood chemistry for your propensity to develop stones. And don't worry
about the time delay: if worse comes to worst, it's not going to change
from curable cancer to incurable cancer in 6 weeks. Of course, in 6 weeks,
if your PSA levels are way down, it can mean that there was no probldem to
begin with, or that the second test was read in error."

Great. No wonder they call it "practicing" medicine. Just one I'd like to
find a doctor who isn't "practicing" but has gotten good enough at it to
know what he's doing!

So I do appreciate everybody's support, and I'm not losing any sleep over
it.

Robin
