I too know of several US citizens who retired to Mexico & live quite
comfortably..
They keep a POBox in San Diego for their Social Security checks, then
cross the border where it goes 4 times as far ;)

Just south of Tijuana is a small quiet little village called Playa de
Tijuana which is far enough away from the tourist traps & affords luxury
living, i.e. gated community (plus house servants) !

Consider operating a B&B as my friends do !!
