Tonight, I put some blockade runner in a gdb of unkown past. I was
getting a little bit of latakia taste, probably residual. I'm mostly

noticeable, but not dominat latakia in it?
As you've apparently noticed, latakia can easily dominate a blend. Some consider this a Good Thing, while others may find it occasionally overwhelming.
Mac Baren's Plumcake has a just a tinge of latakia. Plumcake is heavily sugared and can bite quite a bit, so be warned! If you're familiar with other MB tobaccos, you probably already know what Plumcake is like. ;-)
Recently, due to the Altadis sampler package, I was able to try Iwan Ries "Three Star Blue - Original Aromatic" which also incorporates a small amount of latakia. Three Star Blue is a mixture of what my taste buds tell me are: burley, orientals with a pinch of latakia, and cavendish with a hint of sweetness which manifests itself more in the aroma rather than in the taste. Unlike certain other blends labeled as aromatic, Three Star Blue was quite dry in the pouch - but not overly so; just perfect for smoking, I would say, with nary a trace of tongue bite.
The above are JMNSHO, YMMV (!) ;-)
