With the pipe snob post (don't know about cherry blend, but I do like half
and half in a cob) and the musical closet post (I grew up in the 80s
also...still like Twisted Sister videos) I thought I would share something
that I just discovered. This may well kill the gin snobs of the group (if
there are any) but I have discovered a cheap gin that I really like. My
favorite "premium" gins are Tanquerey for gin and tonic and Plymouth for a
martini (that would be the cocktail with gin and vermouth and a dash of
orange bitters). Now I have discovered a very nice inexpensive gin for
gin
and tonics: Burnett's. Supposedly, the botanicals are distilled with the
spirit just like high priced gins rather than just adding flavors at the
end. While I cannot verify that, it does go well with a splash of tonic
and
a slice of lime. My prefered gin and tonic has about 2 parts gin to 3
parts
tonic and sometimes I will even drink them 50/50.
There you have it. I have found a cheap gin that I like. Is cherry blend
far behind? Oh the shame.

I'm a Bombay Sapphire man myself. I'll give Burenett's a try!

I like Bombay Sapphire also. Probably my second choice for a martini. I
like a gin with a little more oomph for a gin and tonic or it gets lost in
the tonic.
