Truthfully, who really cares?
Outside of full on prohibition of pipe tobacco, what else can the
"suits" do?At this point most of us enjoy our pipes at home or in our
cars anyway.I know very few pipe smokers who walk around indoors with
one in their mouth all day....It's easy enough to get around most of
the foolish laws.

Dock,

I care for 2 reasons. One being that when we have silly unenforcable
and draconian laws like this, then it lowers the respect people have
for the real laws that matter. It is one more brick in the low respect
for gov't officials that people have and low level of trust between the
people and their elected officials. (and I'm not sure that is entirely
a bad thing, to be honest). But the other reason I really care is
simply that every dollar spent passing and enforcing this anti-tobacco
silliness is a dollar taken in taxes that cannot be spent on something
appropriate and infinitely more important like education, roads,
catching and punishing murderers, rapists, abusers, thieves, etc....

Bottom line, there is only so much enforcement dollars to go around and
when laws are passed and not enforced (or even recognized as silly by
the vast majority of the population)--then the overall population
begins to lose respect for all law, even the important ones.

BTW, in the long run the corruption will begin to rise just as it has
in alcohol prohibition and the "war on drugs".
