I had to sit and think on this for a few days. There is no one greatest
memory from ASP, but many many memories. When I was able to give away
tobacco (more able than I am today), I got so many great gifts from so many
people. These gifts were totally uncalled for, but cherished. You folks
sent everything from hand carved stone tampers to antler tampers to picture
books of foreign lands. I got to meet Frenchy (which is good enough to be
the greatest memory of a lifetime). I have run into so many of you at the
few pipe shows I am able to attend (it looks like DC no longer hosts a pipe
show). I have talked to a few of you on the phone (and June's Christmas
Carol sung into my answering machine was a keeper) I learned about great
tobacco and excellent pipes. Because of ASP, I no longer smoke only Borkum
Riff in whatever pipe I can find in the Thompson's Cigar catalog.
I have laughed with you, cried with you, prayed for you, and I have found a
pipe club that I can meet with every day. I have found the true
brotherhood and sisterhood of the briar. Everyday on ASP creates another
greatest memory for me.
