Hello, ASP!
If you would be so kind as to direct your browser to
http://www.thepiperack.com/whatsnew.cfm , you will be able to see this
week's latest arrivals at The Piperack.
Here in Michigan, The Piperack is enjoying a particularly spectacular
Indian Summer well into the fall months. Crisp, cool evenings coupled
with breezy warm afternoons and natures fireworks on the local oak and
maple trees always remind me of that magical epiphany so many years ago
when I tried Balkan Sobranie for the first time and my life was forever
changed. Autumn is my favourite season of all a time of change, of
preparation, of gratitude. Sensory overload abounds in the fall from
the smell of the first wood fires heating a chilly evening, to the
sound of dead leaves crunching underfoot, or the splendour of the woods
as the trees turn, this is a magical time of year. To me, pipe smoking
has always been part of my Autumn ritual, and I know there are many of
you who feel that way, too.
This week at The Piperack, we celebrate this Autumn grandeur with a
fantastic selection of both unsmoked and estate pieces from around the
globe. Starting with the United States, there are five terrific new
pipes from Rad Davis. This up-and-comer is quickly making a name for
himself as quite a pipemaker, and the combination of top-grade Grecian
plateaux, handcut stems and reasonable prices, its easy to see why!
>>From Ireland, there are three unsmoked Petersons, including two
exquisitely grained smooth Sherlock Holmes-series pipes from the
original first edition. We also have a smattering of unsmoked pieces
from other top-notch makers, including an adorable Ashton Old Church
Canadian (mine if no one grabs it!), a Hedegaard, a cute Castello
Natural Vergin and others.
This week's "Piperack Pick" is the Radice Limited Edition Clear
Canadian. Why? Simple. When was the last time you saw such a
magnificent Canadian? Getting a large enough piece of briar for a pipe
this size (over 8 inches with a 5 inch shank) is impressive enough, but
to pull off a SMOOTH is unheard of! Besides this stunning example of
Italian craftsmanship, we have a great selection of pipes from
Savinelli, Ser Jacopo (a gorgeous ringblasted billiard with elegant
silver ring), Le Nuvole, and a couple fantastic and under-rated Il
Ceppos. English pipes this week include a beautiful and mint-condition
Dunhill Hand Turned Collector ringblast, a bevvy of family-era Sasieni
seconds, as well as pipes from Charatan, Comoy and others. From
Denmark, we have three W.O. Larsens (including a couple older pieces
with some fantastic grain), and we even have some uncommon American
makers represented in a lovely Mickles and a hard-to-find Paul Perri.
Dont miss the killer ringblast on the Il Ceppo reading pipe , or the
mint Radice Clear billiard with the distinctive white stem!! Next
update comes November 12th! Dont you miss it!
Thanks for looking!
Kind Regards
