I think what Mickey's getting at is that you're wrong. ;)

Seriously, though, stepping back from the left/right dem/rep thing, it's like saying "my mythology is every bit as valid as your science", supported by arguments based mostly on calling the other guy intolerant of one's diverse points of view.

It's all very nice & everything, it's just wrong.

But the funny thing (and here is where they DO have some overlap) is that, for example, I can "prove" via "science" that Tony's religion is just made-up fantasy stuff and he can "prove" via "faith" (or whatever you want to call it -- I'm not trying to put words into the other guy's mouth) that my "religion" (science/skepticism/whatever-you-care-to-call-it) is every bit as made-up and filled with hooey.

Of course, neither of us will accept the other's proof because, for each of us, our own enlightened system has already taught us that the methods used by the other are invalid and, hence, their conclusions (his for me, mine for him) cannot be trusted.

Hence, we must meet on our various battlefields and settle things with the weapons du jour. Woot!


(Tony/Catholicism just picked as a familiar example. Love the guy; "no offense", and all that...)
