Pre-1964 in the South, the Democrats != the left.

Racism (and the inevitable "identity politics" that goes along with
it) has always been the province of the left.

I've lived in Florida for nearly a decade. Racists here overwhelmingly
vote Republican. In other news, the sky is blue.
