Of course it's the topic. Your claim is that Obama increased
alienation. Increased compared to what? Hmmm...
Increased since the day he took office.
Of course you have to try to frame the discussion that way...
When talking about the consequences of one man's actions, it only
makes sense to consider his actions and not others, and his
consequences, not others.
This is true whether you like the man or not, whether the consequences
are judged to be good ones or not.
Specific to this particular discussion, it makes no sense, whatsoever,
to judge what Obama has done by comparing where we are now to where we
were at this time during the Carter administration, the Roosevelt
(Teddy) administration or any other administration. The ONLY think
that makes any sense is to compare whether Obama took what he had on
1/21/09 and made it better since that time or worse.
After the inauguration there was a massive spike in popularity for Obama
among America's allies. Why? Because he was not George W Bush. Not-Bush
then went on to the day-to-day business of being President of the most
powerful nation on Earth. While the numbers have lowered from their
unsustainable peak, Not-Bush still enjoys stratospherically high
approval ratings among America's allies compared to his predecessor.
As obvious as the preceding is, you must ignore all of it so your
Obama-in-a-vacuum argument doesn't look laugh out loud ridiculous. I
have to say I'm surprised at the lack of subtlety.
The irony of it all is Obama has largely continued with the Bush
administrations policies. What a joke.
So if you compare BO's numbers against Dubya's he's doing great but on his own not so much? Doesn't show a whole lotta faith in the man or his policies.
The left has to let go of the yeahbut, it's like a SNL skit that doesn't know it's over and just keeps going on and on...
