Their medical system may not be gold-plated,

USoAer's are not ready for Socialized Medicine. We do not like
restrained care (no dialysis after age 80, etc.), or waiting for
testing or care. And without a loser pay system of tort the
physicians' in the USoA would not be able to function or handle the
mass lawsuits that restrained care and negative outcomes guarantee.

Even tort reform, however helpful, will not solve this. You're
stuck in a spiral of cost rises, and something will have to give
before long. People will have to ask themselves hard questions
and will have to change their demands and expectations.

What has to give is the onerous government regulation that absorbs 40%
of every health care dollar spent.

Fine.
Let's scrap healthcare regulations. Who needs to prevent drug
side effects anyway? And if those people in rural areas
complain, let them move to the cities where there are doctors!

Aside from that, Tony, your figure fails to scare one such as me
who lives in a country with 100% government regulation and where
I pay fully HALF of what you do. From where I am sitting, those
"wasteful" bureaucrats save me a shitload of money.
