Trump performs that service very well. The best service that he could offer is to continue to be "thinking of running for president" and hammering Obama, then at the last minute, put his full backing behind someone else like Cain or Romney.

Trump gets beat up, then jumps out of the ring and tags someone fresh. :)

I still believe that if Sarah Palin had been allowed "off leash", McCain would be president today.
