That's the semantic inverse. Wouldn't the logical inverse be

If (you do not do good works) then (you will not be saved.)

Note that one can not to good works without doing evil works. Catholics invented all sorts of odd places for folks who are neither saved nor damned, where they must wait until their living relatives give enough money to The Church.
