IIRC, those wings didn't fold. I do know that, on that car, you
essentially backed the vehicle into the wing and tail assembly, connected
a drive shaft, and then flew off. At the other end you did the reverse
and stored the wing/tail assembly, drove around, and came back for the
wings and tail to fly back home.
similar but had manual Hellcat like folding wings, I'm just too lazy to
look for it. I'm sure there is a link out there somewhere.
Pretty cool concept, only problem is you still need a runway. It's not
like you're going to be driving down I-95 and decide to fly the rest of
the way and just deploy the wings and take off.
Heck, I've landed and taken off from any number of roads. Not I-95, mind
you; the country variety. Usually to rescue some fellow flier who ended up
in a cornfield or beanpatch somewhere...
