How about "excessive greed" is when you step over ethical and legal
lines to satisfy your greed?

I think the general problem is with the word "excessive" which seems
to imply that there is an amount that is too much. It's the same
problem we have with "excessive wealth" (or income.)

Obviously, if you step over ethical and legal lines to obtain your
wealth/income, that's bad. But one could legally and ethically obtain
10x as much and not be "to excess."

And so, with greed.

"Greed" is a term typically used by the envious.

Actually it's one of the seven deadly sins. (But then you don't believe in sin, do you.)
Actually, it's avarice.

I believe in "sin", but they're probably different that your list.
