The expressly CANNOT stop someone on suspicion of status. If the
original reason for a stop is thrown out, everything subsequent will be
thrown out as well.

Exactly my point. The cops can't just go out looking for illegals to
bust.

Will that deter them? Cops, if they really want, can always
find a reason -- it's part of living in a nation of laws.

No, Alex. It's part of living in a nation of redundant, useless, conflicting and mostly unenforced laws. You cannot enslave innocent people hence enough laws to make everyone guilty.

Driving too fast or too slow, driving with the wrong skin
tone in the wrong neighbourhood, jaywalking.....

So don't drive too fast or slow, don't jaywalk, and if they pull you over for skin color, sue the shit out of them. :)
