My point was really not too be too price-conscious. This is a
long-term purchase and it pays to invest a little bit more, IMHO,
to get a satisfactory quality. It blows donkey snot to have to
admit that the bargain purchase is useless at keeping cigars and
to have to buy another 'dor....

I think I'm going to use your advice. I placed my humidor in a 10
gallon ZipLoc bag and the humidity seems to be creeping up from the 54%
it was at to about 61%. This leads me to believe that I have a leaky box.

I tried to seal it with thin felt around the lid where it meets the box
(and it does have a lip on it, but it's a really loose fit. I've read
it's supposed to go "whoosh" when you open it).

So I think it's time to buy a replacement humidor.

I have/had a similar problem - main solution has been 3 coolerdors
<g> - but for the leaky humidor, I finally put a thin bead of silicone
at the "L" - really thin - it worked like a charm - was just enough to
give me the seal. Best to use too little and have to add some.

Good luck!- Hide quoted text -

BTW - Felt is a poor solution (IMHO) - it's CLOTH - ya gonna pour your
glass of wine into a hankerchief to hold for soon drinking? Oooops -
"wine on the floor! brains out the door!" <VBG>

Since when is air liquid, Mary?
:-)
Felt works well when insulating windows, so a humidor lid should
present any challenges.

This stray thought just wandered through my head (lonely as a
cloud -- it's early): I imagine that in some cases it may help
to tighten or replace the hinges. Having seen my share of cheap
boxes, I am fairly confident that the hinges are equally cheap
and may not shut properly, meaning flush with the lid. Is this
something worth investigating?- Hide quoted text -

Sheesh Alex .... you just ruined my "pants on the floor rif" - yah,
felt works on the windows at casa "our-house" but not quite so much
for moisture - hinge tightening sounds good too!
