I'm not that convinced that "violent/non-violent" is
all that big a deal. So called "non-violent" actions
can be quite harmful and distressing. Most of us guys
would prefer settling differences quickly and finally
in the parking lot rather than endless hours of
talking things out, which only covers up the conflict
and makes it drag on for years. My 6th grade teacher
gave unruly students the option of writing 300 word
essays or taking three licks (oak 1 x 2, and welt-raising).
The boys always took the swats.

You both conveniently edited out my suggestion to take to the
priesthood. No taxes, a rather comfortable living, a life spent in
service to The Lord -- it all sounds pretty ideal (for Tony, I mean),
if you ask me. Given that choice, "I'm being forced to work as a
slave" is just so much whining.

Have you forgotten the no-sex part of the priesthood?
If you were given the choice "do this work or go without
sex for the rest of your life", how would you choose?
Talk about non-violent coercion!
